We are located in a rural setting with 20 acres of playground on a farm between Sandefjord and Larvik. The farm is surrounded by hills, forests and fields. On the pasture below the house, the horses of the neighboring farm graze - we have the hens Gunn, Gunda and the rooster Kåre as well as a small herd of farm cats. We get frequent visits from deer, foxes, owls, ravens and hawks. This is a good place to live, for humans and dogs.

OUR STORY

I am a Market Analyst by education and experience, but decided to quit my job and give up my apartment in Oslo to chase the big dream; to work with dogs.  I have been breeding dogs since 2012. To my CV, I can also add: dog trainer (clicker), behaviour consultant, dog groomer and Dog hotel manager

Puppy training classes and socialisation days

We hold 4 puppy training classes during the year. The classes are held in weekends, Sat and Sun. Let us know if you want to attend!!

We are also going to start up again with our successfull puppy socialisation days -these are free of charge - just bring your puppy and come play with us - dates are coming up...

In addition to our breeding program, we have a small dog hotel, We also hold puppy classes, puppy socializing days, dog grooming classes and can offer qualified help and behavioral advice if needed.

We have also recently been approved by the county council  (as the first dog breeder in Norway) as an apprenticeship company in the field of dogs and our first dog -trainee has just started!

Teamet

Our own puppy socializes and environment trainer works to create safe and trusting puppies. She names the puppies, introduces them to new things every week, including mirrors (own reflection), various headgear, hairdryers, kitchen noises, horses, cats and chickens are some of the things the puppies will be exposed to during the imprinting phase with us. She also does a lot of handling training with the puppies, such as clipping claws, checking ears, and touching paws. So that the puppies have good experiences of sitting on the lap and being handled from an early age.

We are genuinely concerned about health, safety and the promotion of healthy puppies at Saga Doodles. All puppies get 3 wormings, vaccine and chip. We are a bit geeky and read a lot about feeding, for puppies that are as resistant as possible. They primarily get Fish for Dogs - White fish, which is Norwegian fish with many good nutrients and proteins that the puppies need when they are in the development phase. They also get mush raw food, mixed in the food from the age of 5 weeks. We have also started with Acana feed (small amounts) to add new flavors. With us, the puppies get to taste rabbit ears, blueberries, carrots and much more so as to build up a tolerance. We have read that this makes them more resistant to possible allergies. Another focus we have is to make the puppies safe and well-adjusted to their new home. That's why we gradually introduce them to sounds, everything from kitchen noises, hair dryers, fireworks and vacuum cleaners. We believe we have a great responsibility as breeders to prepare the puppies for their new life in a home, and we believe the work we do lays a good foundation for the puppies in their new home. Something we get feedback on is how safe and trusting the puppies are, so we must be doing something right :)

We are a team of 5 in total working on the farm and our passion is dogs. We all work together to be able to give the puppies a safe and loving start in life, before they travel on to new adventures to their forever home.
